Since its introduction over the decade ago there are 6,000 ST-20E Theodolites in service across the subcontinent. The success of the Theodolites is primarily due to the bearing (axis) incorporated. The semi- kinematic design ensures stability, accuracy and above all, considerably reduces the down-time for collimation. Because of this unique feature, the ST-20E is fitted with a high sensitive bubble of 45"/2 mm.

The use of high resolution optical glass representing the refractive index and the Abbe value is an indication of the high quality and specification of the opticalsystem.
